Well, this week has been just crazy.  We haven’t been eating like we should that’s for sure.  We had no power starting Monday night due to the storm that came through but it was turned back on Tuesday night around 9pm. I was at work all day Tuesday so it didn’t affect me too much.  It did however affect Todd and the children.  Instead of cooking something for lunch, I picked up some nasty fast food.  But the good part is that we did eat scrumptously delicious free range eggs and uncured not smoked bacon from pastured pigs Tuesday evening for supper.  I have neverRead More →

The farmers market is getting pretty crowded these days. This past Saturday, we made our weekly trip over to the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market aka the Yorkmont Market. Todd and I always talk about changing our eating habits.  And sometimes we actually eat the right things and buy the right foods.  But we never seem to stick with it.  It always seems that we don’t have enough time or money to eat this way.  Well, that’s all about to change. This year we want to change the way we eat entirely.  It’s so easy for us to talk about how we should be eating but we really want to start walking the walk so to speak.  We are going to blog about our journey along the way to transforming the way we eatRead More →

We’ve been so busy on the farm this winter.  We had our second child at the end of January and there were many many sleepless nights to go along with our new son Levi.  It’s honestly so exhausting those first weeks getting adjusted.  But honestly, they are so totally worth it.  Here’s some pictures of our two children, baby Levi and big brother Riley. As for the farm, we’ve been starting seed and transplanting since late February things like swiss chard, broccoli, spinach, arugula, radishes, turnips, snow peas, spring onions, lettuce, and lettuce mix.  I don’t have any pictures of where we have these inRead More →

Our Etsy Shop Shady Creek Naturals is now up and running.  We decided to use Etsy because of its ease of use.  At first we were going to manage an e-commerce site for our soaps and other farm products, but decided that we would be better off making product instead of managing an e-commerce site.Read More →

This summer has been so trying on our faith.  I say this because like you, we had hoped and prayed for an abundance of vegetables to feed our CSA members and ourselves.  But that didn’t come.  Or at least with the summer vegetables it didn’t.  And, we’ve been reminded these past few weeks that just because we are praying for an abundance doesn’t mean God will grant that to us.  He supplies us with what we need, Not what we want.  That is so hard to cope with sometimes.  Also, in times like this, He draws us near to strengthen us in our faith.  GodRead More →

Todd will be at the Charlotte Tailgate Market and I will be at the Belmont Fresh Market.  We normally don’t bring much if anything to the Belmont market but this week, I will have a few good vegetables.  I will be at Belmont from 8am til 9:30 or 10am.  Please stop by and visit us and the other vendors.  We are not giving up on the Belmont Fresh Market.  If you don’t get there in time, please feel free to give us a call and we’ll let you know what we have harvested that day.  Also, definitely check out the Charlotte Tailgate Market this Saturday,Read More →
