Still Hot and Not Enough Rain!!

Market News for June 25, 2011

Todd and I will be at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market Saturday from 8am til 12pm.  I will be in the Open Air Building A.

Here’s a list of what we will have at the market.  We don’t have too much of one thing honestly though.

  • Cucumbers
  • Green Beans
  • Squash
  • Zucchini

Farm Updates

Well, it’s been another hot week.  We’ve gotten a little bit of rain this week but honestly, not enough.  We started watering last week by hand.  Not fun at all.  But definitely needed.  Some seeds we planted last week still haven’t come up.  When it has rained here, it just evaporates so fast it doesn’t help the plants and seeds enough.  We are probably going to try and get some irrigation going if everything pans out this weekend.

Recipes

Eating fermented food is a great way to get probiotics at every meal.  This week I’ll share with you some recipes that I have found for fermenting pickles.  Before we get to the recipes however, I want to share an article on the benefits of fermenting foods from Nourishing Days.

See you at the market!
