2009 CSA Season

CSA Starts soon but……….

Later than expected!!

Our first CSA pick up date has been pushed back one more week to May 9, 2009.

This past week has been crazy on the farm.  We finally received the break we needed to get things planted.  It has been very hard this year to follow my planting schedule due to the wet weather.  I missed many of my planting dates.  Now that the weather has stabilized a bit, I have been able to finally get things back on schedule as much as possible.  I do still worry that because of the wet early spring and not being able to succession plant in a timely manner, that some of the boxes will be a little on the lean side until the late planted spring veggies and summer veggies mature.  That’s one of the main reasons that we are pushing the CSA back one more week.

The Week Ahead

This week looks to be a repeat of last week.  We have so many summer veggies that need to be transplanted and seeded this week that I don’t know how it’s all going to get done.  The planting schedule for this week includes tomatillos, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, corn, okra, snap beans, watermelon, and canteloupe.  That’s quite a list!  In addition to things that need to be succession planted such as lettuce mix, radishes, beets, and swiss chard.

I can’t wait to see everyone at the first pick up.  Hope everyone has a good week!  See you soon!!
